Good Questions, Honest Answers

Everything Madison neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.

What areas around Madison do you serve?

We're based on the isthmus (53703) and cover about a 20-mile reach. That includes every part of Madison, from the near east side, Tenney-Lapham and Schenk-Atwood to Vilas, Dudgeon-Monroe, Hill Farms and the far west side, plus Middleton, Shorewood Hills, Maple Bluff, Monona, Fitchburg, Verona, Sun Prairie, McFarland, Cottage Grove and Waunakee. If you're near the edge of that circle, call and ask; a bigger list usually makes the trip work.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. Most jobs can be priced from a few photos and a short call, and you'll have a firm number before anything is scheduled. Bigger or less predictable projects, like a long run of fence or a basement full of shelving, get a free in-person look first.

Do you charge by the hour or by the job?

Wherever possible we quote a flat price for the job, which means you know the total up front. When a visit is an open-ended punch list, we settle the rate and a rough scope with you beforehand, so the bill matches what you expected. When a job proves quicker or easier than it looked, you pay less, not the same.

Are your pros licensed and insured?

Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in Wisconsin for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.

What jobs do you take on?

Pretty much everything on a Madison homeowner's fix-it list: plaster and drywall patching, sticking doors, mounted TVs and shelves, assembled furniture, ceiling fans, light fixtures, dimmers and smart switches, faucets, toilets and disposals repaired or replaced, fences and gates, gutters, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage, smart home gear and seasonal upkeep. Send it all, even the tiny items, and we'll shape a single visit around the full list.

Can you help with rentals before the August 15 move-in?

Yes, and we know how tight that window is in Madison. With so many leases near campus and downtown turning over on the same day, landlords have only a few days to patch walls, fix doors and hardware, repair faucets and toilets, replace blinds and smoke alarms and touch up paint. Call us early in the summer, send the unit list, and we'll schedule the work so the units are ready on time.

Can you get my house ready for winter?

Few visits we make pay off better than this one. In October or early November, before the snow sticks, we clean gutters and check downspout extensions, seal gaps around windows, doors and sill plates, adjust weatherstripping and door sweeps, shut off and drain outside faucets, test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and look for the spots where ice dams have caused trouble before. An hour of prevention in the fall beats a stained ceiling in February.

Can I just text you a photo of the problem?

Please do. Two or three clear shots, a close-up plus a wider view of the room, and a line or two about the problem usually tell us enough to price the job firmly. Photos also let us load the right parts before we head your way.

How do I schedule, and how far out are you booked?

Phone us or use the contact form, and include your address and a quick rundown of what needs doing. You'll get a narrow arrival window rather than an all-day wait, plus a heads-up if an earlier job runs long. A short job often fits into the current week, while a long list may wait a few extra days so we can reserve a block of time big enough to finish it all at once. Fall, right before the first hard freeze, is our busiest stretch, so book winter prep early.
